It took more than 20 hours before my wife and I finally reached Italy for the start of our 12 days tour of Italy, Switzerland and France! 12 hours of the 20 hours was spent on the flight from Singapore to Turkey, then hours were spent on transit before the 3.5 hours of flight from Turkey to Italy. When we reached Turkey for our transit to Italy, it was around 6 a.m, Turkey Time. What was interesting to me was that the plane we took, landed on some hundreds of metres away from the airport, and shortly after we descended down the most interesting method too: via the stairs being put down, we took a large bus and were whisked off to the Turkey airport. We spent the next 2.5 hours in Turkey airport, basically waiting, there was nothing interesting to behold at the airport as the language there was Turkey and what caught the eyes of my Dear and I were the interesting Turkey’s evil eyes, a must-buy souvenir for tourists in Turkey. The first Singaporean Tour Group to Hokkaido, Japan (after the enormous earthquake and tsunamis) set off yesterday.

When my wife and I decided to take a vacation and head to Europe for holidays, we checked out the many tour agencies in town and compared the different price packages for Europe. There was quite a mix of offers and as we missed out the NATAS travel fair, we were not able to enjoy good prices for Europe packages. However, price aside, the other question bothering us will be how many countries do we want to tour in Europe as we are first time tourists there?

On the last day of my Hokkaido tour with my wife on 28 Sep 09, our group visited the Hokkaido Jingu Shrine . The shrine is a Shinto Shrine. Shinto is a native religion of the Japanese which worships the god in the universe as symbolized by the sun. Shinto is the indigenous religion of Japan before Buddhism and other religions set foot in Japan.

My wife and I set foot on the town of Otaru one bright afternoon in our tour after a hearty lunch. Otaru is a habour town in Hokkaido with the Otaru canal a famous landmark there. I have read so much of Otaru in the travel itineraries and coming to this picturesque town, we were not disappointed!
